Cleaning & HouseholdLife Style
You know Windex is great for window cleaning, but here are 10 ways you can use this blue spray cleaner throughout your home.
Apply Windex.
You know that blue window cleaner we all grew up with? Well, it can do a lot more than just clean windows. Whether it’s for stain removal or insect repellant, Windex may be the perfect household companion. To avoid skin irritation or burns from the ammonia-alcohol mixture of cleaning solution, roll up your sleeves, put on plastic gloves, and keep the blue bottle in your cleaning supply closet.
Make your jewelry shine.
Don’t waste money on expensive jewelry cleaners. Simply spray Windex on metal or jewelry jewelry and gently scrub with a toothbrush to restore the shine. Then rinse with cold water and wear. (Do not try this method on soft, porous jewelry such as opals, turquoise, pearls, shells, or coral – ammonia-based cleaners are a no-no).
Removing stains from clothing
Ketchup, tomato sauce, and red wine are the bane of many shirts. Unless it is a delicate silk fabric, spray it lightly with Windex and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wipe with a clean cloth, rinse in cold water, and launder as recommended. Use the colorless type of Windex for best results.
Eliminate nuisance insects.
Nuisance pests? Spray a little Windex and they will curl up and die within minutes. However, do not try it on bees or wasps. It has no immediate effect and may sting. It can also be used as an insect repellent. Spray along the edges of doors and windows to repel insects.
Car Wash.
Windex is an excellent interior cleaner that removes dirt buildup on windows, dashboard, steering wheel, and upholstery. It is non-greasy, so it won’t make everything slippery or damage upholstery and faux wood surfaces. In addition, you can use Windex to clean dead insects and sap from car surfaces. Simply spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe it off.
Say goodbye to grease.
With its extremely high degreasing power, Windex softly removes grease and grime that accumulates throughout the kitchen, especially on hard-to-clean exhaust fans, fans, and light fixtures. Spray generously on surfaces, let sit for 10 minutes, and wipe clean. Be sure to thoroughly rinse any cleaner left on food preparation surfaces with water.
