Cleaning & HouseholdLife Style
I have a fairly large family and I love to cook for them. But when you combine the two, the kitchen gets messy! There is always something that needs to be cleaned and I struggle to keep up with it. Thankfully, there are many quick and easy cleaning tips that will keep every part of your kitchen sparkling clean.
The inside of your oven door is probably covered in grease and scorch marks. We have found that using Magic Wipes can make the glass shiny again.
To prevent food from sticking to the grill, cut an onion in half and rub the meaty side along the grill.
To remove tea stains and coffee stains from mugs, clean the inside of the mug with a paste of baking soda and water.
To remove grease stains from kitchen cabinets, use a paste of coconut oil and baking soda. Apply the paste to the cabinets, including any cracks and crevices. Brush the paste onto the cabinets with an old toothbrush and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
To remove burn marks and stains from an electric stove, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the stove. Soak a towel in hot water, wring it out, and place it on the stove. Leave for 20 minutes, then remove residue with a sponge.
To clean and disinfect a wooden cutting board, sprinkle coarse salt on the surface. Using the fleshy side of a lemon, spread the salt on the cutting board. Then rinse with warm water.
Remove grease and other stains from stainless steel appliances with a solution of distilled vinegar and liquid dishwashing detergent. Apply the solution to the appliance with a soft cloth and wipe clean with a dry microfiber cloth.
Hard water stains on faucets and stainless steel sinks can be removed by wiping with a rag soaked in distilled vinegar. Lemon slices also work well!
When a plastic cutting board is stained, make a thick paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the surface. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then wipe it off with a damp cloth.
Place a few lemon slices in a bowl and microwave for 15-20 seconds. The lemon-containing steam will be generated, sterilizing the inside of the microwave and loosening any food residue. Then wipe clean with a warm, damp cloth.
To deodorize the garage and break up stuck-on food, sprinkle baking soda down the drain and use distilled vinegar.
Fill a cup with distilled vinegar and place on the top rack of the dishwasher. Run the dishwasher on the hottest water setting for the remainder of the empty cycle. The vinegar will clean and sanitize the dishwasher. Be sure to use this method because pouring vinegar into the dishwasher’s detergent aid container can damage rubber seals and gaskets….
To clean granite or stone worktops, spray with lemonade and wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
As you probably know if you use glass pendant lights in your kitchen, they will pick up dust and other contaminants over time. You can put the glass shades straight into the dishwasher to keep them shiny.
Use the thin nozzle attachment of a handheld vacuum cleaner to get crumbs and dust out of kitchen drawers.
Pour in distilled vinegar and let it boil for a few minutes to descale the kettle. After boiling, pour off the vinegar and rinse well with water.
