If you’ve noticed a few spots of mold in your home, you’re certainly not alone. When it comes to a small area, you can usually get rid of the mold on your own. If you are concerned that the mold problem in your home is significant, you should definitely call a professional. But for minor mold problems, you can try these simple solutions.
You already know that hydrogen peroxide is a disinfectant and antiseptic for cuts and scrapes. But did you know hydrogen peroxide will also remove mold? Just spray some on the area in question, let sit for about 10 minutes, then scrub and wipe clean.
Not only will baking soda get rid of mold, but it will also dry up and deodorize the area. Dissolve a small amount of baking soda in water, then spray the solution on the area before scrubbing and rinsing.
If you’re dealing with a surface or area that’s non-porous, a combination of warm water and liquid dish soap will remove mold.
Is there anything distilled vinegar can’t do?! Simply spray some vinegar on the area in question, then let it sit for about an hour. When the time’s up, wipe and rinse throughly.
Remember, when getting rid of mold on your own, you should always wear rubber gloves and a protective face mask. You want to avoid getting any mold spores on your skin, and you want to especially avoid breathing in the spores, as this can cause many mold-related diseases.
