1- Taking Care of the Washing Machine

The washing machine is no picnic. We put in the dirty clothes, pour in the soap and press the start button.
It’s all too easy to set it and forget it. But washing machines and clothes are expensive and deserve proper treatment.
That’s why there are certain things you should never put in the washing machine. Have you ever made the mistake of putting any of these items in the washer?
2-Embellishments

Trimmings are delicate items that need special care to keep their shine.
Delicately sewn items can be easily broken by being shaken in the washing machine or snagged on other items.
What’s more, hot water in the washing machine can break down the glue used to assemble the pieces.
3-Fluffy Throw Blankets

Putting them in the washing machine can cause them to shrink and lose their softness.
Keep cozy blankets in perfect condition by dry cleaning them.
4-Items Covered in Pet Hair

Picking up the pup or cuddling the cat can lead to lots of loose pet hair on your clothing.
Machine-washing items that are covered in pet hair should be avoided, as the hair can clump together and clog the drain pipes.
Be sure to use a lint roller prior to putting the items in the machine.
5-Memory Foam Pillows

Memory foam pillows have an open-cell structure, which means they absorb moisture like a sponge.
When they enter the spin cycle, pillows that have absorbed water tend to disintegrate.
Extend the life of memory foam pillows by cleaning them from time to time.
6-Extra Large Items

Garments should always be able to move freely in the washing machine.
If you put a large down in the washer, the soap and water will not be able to attack the entire garment. Furthermore, if it is overloaded, the garment could become entangled and cause the agitator to break or the rotating drum to become misaligned.
7- All-Natural Fabrics

Wool and cashmere tend to shrink in the washer and dryer, while velvet, silk, leather and suede may lose their integrity after a single wash. Natural fabrics should not be machine washed to avoid warping.
