Cleaning & HouseholdLife Style
Floors are a real nuisance. You have to sweep, mop and sometimes even get down on your knees to scrub. Not to mention the harsh chemicals you have to use to make the floor shine. There has to be a better way.
In fact, there are several ways to clean floors without using chemical cleaning products. With this list, you can clean almost any type of floor with the products you already have.
Heavy Duty Tile Cleaner
Not surprisingly, vinegar is a great floor cleaner, especially if you have tile. Simply mix 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 teaspoon liquid soap, 1/4 cup soda and 2 quarts of tap water in a bucket. When the mixture is frothy, use it to scrub your tiled floors. This product will make your tile floors look like new again, but do not use it on waxed floors, as it makes the wax sticky.
Three-Ingredient Laminate Floor Cleaner
Laminate floors should be cleaned frequently, but should not take too long. The easiest laminate floor cleaner to make contains only three ingredients and requires only 5 ounces of each: vinegar, alcohol and water. Mix them in a spray bottle or mop and you’re ready to make your floor shine (you can add a few drops of essential oil to this mixture if you want a specific scent, but that’s up to you).
Cleaning a dirty microwave
No one likes to cook in a dirty microwave, but cleaning it is not a pleasant task. Heat up some water and vinegar to make the job easier.
Cleaning stainless steel
Don’t have a stainless steel cleaner? Try this super simple tip. Your appliances will be clean in no time.
Carpet cleaner
Forget about expensive carpet cleaners. Easily use household products you already own to clean up spills.
Restore wood floors
Wood floors can be beautiful or horrible – there’s really no middle ground. What do you do when yours aren’t in the best shape, but you can’t afford to completely refinish them? The best solution is to make your own all-natural restoration product, which only requires 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Spray this combination on the floor and spread it with a microfiber mop. Once the floor is well-coated, use a clean mop to buff it back to like-new condition.
How to remove marker pen stains from hardwood floors
If you have children and hardwood floors, you’ve probably dealt with a lot of stains caused by children on your floors. Most stains can be removed with regular cleaning products, but what about permanent marker pens? Their name suggests that they won’t go away no matter how much soap and water you use. Fortunately, permanent markers can be easily removed with a little toothpaste. Put the toothpaste on the stain and rub it with a damp cloth until it disappears.
Black tea as a floor cleaner
While we all know vinegar is good for cleaning just about anything, you may be looking for a less acidic solution. In that case, black tea is just what you need for you and your hardwood floors. Boil 2 to 4 black tea bags in 1 liter of water. The longer you boil, the darker the tea will be, which you will need to take into account depending on the color of your floor. Let the tea cool and steep a soft cloth with the tea. Drain the excess tea and rub the soil in the direction of the grain.
