Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies, but I certainly don’t like the stains that cooking creates. The worst part of cooking is the grease stains from cooking oil. These are grease stains from cooking oil that seep into cabinets, stoves, backsplashes and countertops. You may think that kitchen surfaces are grease-free, but they are. Fortunately, there are simple ways to effectively remove grease from kitchen surfaces.

Let’s start with the kitchen backsplash. This area is located directly behind your oven, so it’s likely to be coated with a layer of oil. The easiest way to clean the backsplash is to spray some lemon juice on the area. Let the lemon juice sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off with a damp cloth. You should test the lemon juice on a small, inconspicuous area first, as some backsplash materials or stones may react negatively to lemon juice.

Next, clean the oven range. Remove all parts of the oven, which can include the grates and burner covers. Place them in a sink filled with hot soapy water, soak for an hour, then scrub, rinse and dry. For burnt stoves, apply a paste of baking soda and dish detergent to the surface, let it sit for 20 minutes, then brush off the stain and wipe with a damp cloth.

This may come as a surprise, but oil is actually the best way to remove oil stains from stainless steel appliances. Dip a soft cloth into a small amount of olive oil and wipe the stainless steel utensils. The oil will actually absorb the grease that adheres to the stainless steel without damaging it. Then use a microfiber cloth to buff the surface clean.

To remove oil and grease from cabinets, add a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to warm water. Dip a microfiber cloth into the solution, wring it out, and then use it to really wipe down the cabinets. Then wipe the cabinets with a clean, dry cloth.

That’s it – you’re done. With these simple but effective cleaning tips, you can beat the grease from cooking and give your kitchen a thorough clean.

Our favorite fried foods contain a lot of oil. Most of us ignore (guilty!) By cleaning the greasy parts — grease-stained pantry doors, microwaves, stoves, backsplashes, ovens, ceiling exhaust, etc., you can give your kitchen a new lease on life. We asked the cleanest people we know how to make both appliances and surfaces shine like new, without scrubbing or chemicals. Here are some genius ways to remove grease stains.

Pantry doors.

If you don’t wipe down the cupboard door above your cookware every time you fry vegetables, you’re probably covered in stains. Becky Rapinchuk, author of Simply Clean, shows you how to easily wipe away spilled old oil. In a bowl, add one or two drops of castile soap or dish detergent to warm water. Dip a clean microfiber cloth in the soapy water and wring it out until almost dry. Wipe along the wood, then wipe with a dry cloth. Stain will disappear!

Microwave Oven

Rebinchuk also showed us an ingenious way to remove grease stains from microwave ovens and make your kitchen smell great. Place 3-4 cups of tap water and a chunk of lemon in a glass bowl. Carefully place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 3-5 minutes or until the water boils. Leave the microwave door closed for a few minutes to allow the steam to attack the stuck-on grease. Remove the glass bowl (be careful, it is hot) Remove the glass plate and wash it by hand. Wipe down and clean the inside of the microwave oven. If necessary, spray the walls of the microwave with white vinegar or all-purpose cleaner. Wipe off any moisture and put the glass plate back in place. The microwave should be good as new.

Backsplash.

Take another lemon for this one. According to Merry Maids home cleaning expert Debra Johnson, all-natural is the best way to clean backsplash. She recommends squeezing the juice of one lemon into a measuring cup and pouring it into a spray bottle, paying attention to the pulp and seeds. Lemons are excellent cleaners and can quickly remove grease stains. Spray on the grease stain and leave for a few minutes. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry the surface with a clean towel.
