How to Clean Mold From Tub, Tile, and Grout Corners With Toilet Paper - Cleaning & Household 2024 | PopcornTime

A little TP can easily remove mold from grout and caulking.

In a recent article, we showed you some ways to remove mold from hard-to-clean surfaces like wood and upholstery, but what about the wettest rooms in your home? Cleaning bathroom tubs and tiles may seem easy, but areas like grout and caulking can be a bit tricky. Don’t worry, there are ways to get rid of stubborn bathroom mold without having to scrub hard or redo the caulking.

Is mold really dangerous?

Bathroom mold is actually not that dangerous. Mold always occurs in spaces where water frequently comes in contact with surfaces. It can be harmful to people with allergies or respiratory problems, but small amounts do not cause immediate harm. However, bacteria and fungus in the house need to be dealt with before it becomes a major problem.

Removing mold from grout and caulking

Small amounts of mold in grout and caulking can be easily removed with water, a scrubber (or an old toothbrush), water, and some bleach. Gloves and a mask should always be worn, and if the bathroom has a window, it should be opened for ventilation.

First, any cluttered areas should be cleaned up. Molly Mader recommends removing dirt with a broom or vacuum cleaner and washing with soap and water to remove as much of the buildup as possible before treating the mold.

Next, mix 1 part bleach and 10 parts water in a spray bottle and allow it to soak into the mold area. Let this solution sit for at least 5 minutes, then scrub every inch of the tub with a sponge or old toothbrush.

Finally, rinse well and wipe with a clean cloth to reveal clean tile grout and caulk. If bleach is too effective, you can use alternatives such as vinegar or hydrogen peroxide.
How to get rid of stubborn mold in the corner of your bathroom

The hard-to-reach corners of your bathtub are prone to mold growth. An easy way to remove this adhering mold is to use bleach and toilet paper or cotton balls, as TikToker Lilstepha_ shows how well toilet paper and plenty of cleaning solution can clean mold from hard-to-clean areas of the bathtub.

First, prepare the toilet paper. Prepare strips that are long enough to cover the affected area. Twist the strips into long twists. Place the strip of toilet paper in a corner and dip it into a bleach or bleach-based bathroom cleaner. The solution must be left for 12 hours to remove the mold (so make sure the bathroom is well ventilated).

Leaving it for 12 hours may seem like a long time, but if you start cleaning your home early in the morning, it will set by evening and can be left overnight. Then take out the soiled toilet paper (be sure to wear gloves) and wipe the paper clean. The mold will come off quickly along with the paper. Rinse it off with water and you’re done.
