Many of us have a lot of products in the shower, which can make it cluttered, even when it’s clean. Here’s how I organize my bathroom shower to avoid clutter and frustration when it comes to accessing soap, shampoo and conditioner.

How to organize your bathroom shower
This is my shower. It’s a regular stand-up shower. It’s not even a bathtub. It’s just a shower. Normally, in showers, people buy these kind of containers and they hang them under the faucet, kind of like this, and they put the shampoo and conditioner on top, the shaving foam underneath, and the soap in there. And while it’s better to do that, it’s better to put things inside the shower caddy instead of leaving them on the rim here or there or even here on the floor. I think it’s a great way to maximize vertical space.

What really bothers me here is when you have really tall bottles interfering with the faucet here and when the water comes down, when you pick this up and you put it down, the water splashes and splashes back up when you put it back up and when you put something down, the weight is distributed unevenly and it’s going to swing back and forth like that and it’s super annoying.

Shower tray to maximize space
While this maximizes space, I’m not really a fan of this configuration. To avoid frustration in the shower, I bought a shower caddy and hook and placed it on the opposite end of the shower. I literally bought a really big hook at Home Depot and bought a regular shower caddy at The Container Store, I think. I attached the hook to the wall with dowels and screws, two dowels and two screws, and then hung the shower tray from the bottom hook.

Now I don’t have to worry about the height of those bottles getting in the way of the faucets. Also, water doesn’t come into play so there’s no extra splashing.

Shower organization tip: Use suction cups to keep the caddy from moving.
I’ve also put two suction cups here with little hooks on them. See this hook? See all the soaps? Well they have these little hooks and there’s one on this side and one on this side and one on this side, and it’s like this. See how it connects and stays in place?

Because I’ve added these suction cups, when I pull out a heavy bottle, the shower caddy’s not going to rock from side to side, right? The suction cups hold the shower caddy so it’s not going to sway. I don’t know if that was a good explanation or not, but you can see that it doesn’t sway because of the two suction cups I added.

There are suction cups that work very well and others that tend to fall off. These have been around for two years, two and a half years and they’ve never fallen off. They’re from The Container Store. The Container Store has a very good brand of suction cups. I’m going to have to post a link.

I really like this installation. It’s not bulky. Everything is contained. There is nothing on the ledge. There’s nothing on this ledge. I don’t have anything here. This shower caddy is not normally here. I just brought it from the other bathroom to show you what people usually have and what you can do instead to reduce your frustration level.

There are six pockets.
Right now the pockets are empty, but I usually keep bars of soap or a mini hairbrush. It’s also perfect for kids’ toys, if you’re a mom, or anything small that you don’t want to keep in the shower, you can put it inside this shower curtain. It is actually a shower curtain, but I use it as a liner.
